I'm so moved by everything I've been reading about DeAsia Green's case and can't stop thinking about her family, especially her mom, Teairia Hill. Hearing how Teairia described DeAsia as a "social butterfly" really hits home for me. It must be unimaginable for her to face the double tragedy of losing both DeAsia and DeAndre to gun violence. Her strength in delivering that victim impact statement is incredibly admirable. I can't even begin to understand how hard it must be for her every single day. The community has to come together to prevent tragedies like this. Justice for DeAsia is important, but her mom's pain won't just disappear with a court sentence. ??
Has anyone else noticed how this case highlights the impact of unresolved trauma from past family tragedies? DeAsia Green's loss is another devastating chapter for her family, who already went through so much with her father's unsolved murder back in 2010. It's hard to imagine the weight of that unresolved grief and how it may have shaped DeAsia's life and choices leading up to this tragedy. Her stepfather's call for the suspect to be tried as an adult makes me think he wants to break this cycle of violence somehow. It’s so important to look at how these past experiences affect young people and contribute to these heartbreaking outcomes. I'm really hoping for peace and healing for DeAsia's family. What are everyone's thoughts on the long-term effects of unresolved trauma and its role in these situations?
