Has anyone else been following the developments in the Samuel Chavez-Aquiar case? It’s so tragic to think about how his life was cut short in such a senseless act of violence right outside a local smoke shop. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this incredibly tough time. I read that the second suspect, Salvador Gutierrez, was accused of actually pulling the trigger. It makes me wonder what moves someone to make such a devastating choice. The fact that they caught both him and Deluvino Salazar pretty quickly is at least a small relief. It’s a reminder of how important community and detective work are in seeking justice for victims like Samuel. I'd love to hear more thoughts on how the police handled this case and what everyone thinks about the safety in the International District. Do you feel that these arrests signal positive change?
