They were just trying to find some peace and safety after such a traumatic experience, and this incident turned their world upside down again. My heart goes out to Cynthia and the family—dealing with such a massive and unexpected upheaval is unimaginable. The balloon release ceremony sounds like it was a beautiful way for the community to show their support and keep the memory of Sistrane alive, but I can't imagine the heaviness the family must still feel, especially with Cynthia's recovery and Vonteeko's situation hanging over them.
