I just can't stop thinking about how senseless this tragedy was. It's so hard to wrap my head around the fact that a disagreement over a kayak could escalate to this level. Antwawn's family must be going through an unimaginable time right now, especially with his wife battling stage 4 brain cancer. The fact that someone could lose their life over such a minor issue just leaves me feeling so unsettled. I’ve seen a lot of people emphasizing the systemic issues surrounding gun violence, and they're absolutely right. But I also keep thinking about the human side of this – about Antwawn’s kids who have lost their dad so abruptly and his wife who’s now facing this all on her own, amidst her own health crisis. It’s just too much for one family to bear. Does anyone know if there have been any community-led efforts to address conflict resolution in situations like these, maybe some type of outreach at places like Dosker Manor? It seems like a place where tensions could easily boil over. Supporting the GoFundMe is one way to help, but addressing the root issues is crucial too. My heart goes out to the Shackelford family during this incredibly tough time.
