I recently came across the tragic case of Deshawnay Yoakum, and it's been weighing heavily on me. It's so senseless that a vibrant young life was taken from us just on the cusp of a significant milestone, preparing for her prom and graduation. I can't help but think about the impact this has had on her friends and classmates at Englewood High. They must have faced graduating without one of their own, and I'm sure it was a painful void during what should have been a joyous time. It's moments like these that really underscore how much needs to be done in addressing gun violence in our communities. Sending love and strength to those who knew and loved Deshawnay. If there's any way we can support her family or bring more attention to finding justice, I'm all in. Rest in peace, Deshawnay.
