Hey everyone,
I’ve been reading through the forum and wanted to share some thoughts about the community's response to Greg’s passing. I was incredibly touched to see that his neighbors and friends organized a night vigil in the Austin neighborhood. From what I’ve gathered, they lit up the entire block with candles and shared stories and memories of Greg.
It’s so moving to see people coming together to reflect on the positive impact he had on so many lives. Despite the shocking circumstances around his death, it’s clear that his spirit continues to uplift those around him.
Does anyone know if there are plans for further community events or initiatives in Greg's honor? I believe remembering him this way really shows the power of support and solidarity.
Thinking of Joy and everyone else affected.
Take care,

I can't stop thinking about the impact Greg Brown had on those around him. I've been reading through some of the personal stories shared by his colleagues and friends, and it's clear how deeply he touched the lives of so many people. He wasn't just dedicated to his work; he genuinely cared about making a difference in the lives of others. It's so hard to reconcile that someone who gave so much to his community could have his life cut short in such a senseless act of violence.
In particular, the way his colleagues speak about his sense of humor and how he would always find a way to lighten the mood during tough days is truly moving. It's these little anecdotes that make me feel like I knew Greg, even though I never met him personally. This tragedy has been a stark reminder of the widespread issue of gun violence that continues to plague Chicago and other cities. My heart goes out to Joy and everyone who loved Greg. How do we honor his memory beyond tributes? What proactive steps can the community take to ensure Greg’s legacy lives on by creating safer neighborhoods?
