When I read about incidents like what happened to Daniela Alvarez and her mom, Karina, it just leaves me at a loss for words. One thing that's really sticking with me is the fact that an order of protection was issued, but it was never served to Jose Alvarez. I'm wondering how common this is and why there wasn't a follow-up to make sure he didn't have a firearm. It's clear that this system failure played a massive role here, and it's so painful to think that it might have been preventable. The idea of "Karina's Bill" is definitely a step in the right direction. Ensuring that firearms are taken away immediately in these situations should be a no-brainer. Daniela and Karina deserve justice, and I can only hope that changes are made so that other families don't have to live through the same nightmare. It breaks my heart to think of Jesus Emmanuel and what he's going through now, having lost his mom and sister so tragically. My thoughts are with him and any other friends or family suffering such an unimaginable loss.
