Hey all, I’ve been following Jerry Devante Carter’s case and something that caught my attention is how the neighborhood community seems to be responding. It’s been amazing to see the residents of the area come together to support Carter’s family during this incredibly painful time. They’ve organized vigils and have been putting up flyers asking for anyone with information to come forward. It really shows how tight-knit some communities in Chicago can be, despite the struggles they face daily with issues like gun violence. It gives me hope that with such solidarity, people can slowly bring about change. For anyone nearby, participating in these gatherings can be a way to show support and keep Jerry’s memory alive. Every bit counts. Thinking of his family and friends right now. ❤️
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a little about Jerry Devante Carter, whose life was tragically cut short on August 26, 2023. It's incredibly sad thinking about the ripple effect this has had, and I hope people are mindful of that. I came across a photo of his from happier times – a bright smile that seemed to light up the room. It's those moments that make you realize the depth of what his family and friends must be going through.
I’ve been keeping tabs on discussions about gun violence in Chicago, and it's just exhausting how pervasive and devastating it is. It's surreal seeing the toll it takes on real people, like Jerry, and knowing that more names are added every year. I really hope his story is one of the ones that drive discussions around change.
Has anyone else been following any leads on community initiatives or ways to support those who’ve lost loved ones in similar circumstances? Would love to hear more about it.
Sending thoughts to all who knew Jerry.
