I’ve been following Taniya Smith’s story, and something that deeply resonates with me is the way she chose to invest her time into her community through the Hood Heroes organization. It speaks volumes about her character and how she prioritized helping others, especially young folks needing guidance. She seemed like the kind of person who truly made a difference, and, sadly, the very community she uplifted is now left to grapple with her loss.
I can’t help but think about the ripple effect her mentorship must’ve had on those teens she worked with. It's a huge loss not only for her family but for all those kids who looked up to her as a role model. I read that her mom dropped her off at the gathering that night, trusting in a community they considered home. I can’t imagine the pain of losing someone in such tragic circumstances.
