I've been following Khia "Kardii K" Shields' case since it happened, and it’s unimaginable what her family and friends are going through. I read about how she was studying at Georgia Southern University and can't help but think about the future she had ahead of her. The fact that someone could be taken away in such a senseless manner while simply sleeping on a couch is both terrifying and incredibly tragic. The arrest of the suspect after such a long investigation must have brought some relief to those who loved Khia, knowing that justice might be served. It’s frustrating, though, how legal processes can take so long—over a year for this arrest to happen. The waiting must be an ordeal for her family. I can’t imagine living day by day with that uncertainty. I just hope they’re getting the support they need from their community and that there’s some comfort in knowing they’re not alone in wanting justice for Khia. Sending lots of strength to her family and friends during this tough time.
