I’ve been thinking a lot about the ShotSpotter technology since the tragic death of Bilal Jabbar Williamson. It's incredible how technology stepped in when it did, sending officers to the scene so quickly. Imagine how much harder it would've been to even start investigating without it. Savannah PD was able to act on it immediately, and while it’s no consolation for Bilal’s family, at least there was a direct response. It’s so important that these tools exist to help gather crucial evidence when someone’s taken away from their loved ones so violently. My heart goes out to Bilal’s friends and family. Every advancement that helps to solve or prevent these senseless acts of violence is worth discussing. Thoughts?
