Hey everyone, just wanted to chime in on the Thomas Lawson case that's been on everyone's mind. I can't get over how risky it must have been for cab drivers like him back then, especially in areas with reputations like Muldoon Road. You have to wonder about the kind of people they encountered late at night, alone and just trying to make ends meet through the slow winter months. The fact that Lawson had dedicated so much of his life to both his community and his country makes this all the more tragic. Here was a man who gave generously of his time and resources—someone who had had his hands in shaping Anchorage itself. To think that his life ended in such a violent, senseless manner... it's just so unsettling. I really hope they're able to connect the dots soon and find the person responsible. His family and friends deserve some peace and closure. I can't imagine what they're going through, knowing that someone capable of such harm is still out there. It's a sad reminder of how dangerous it can be out there, even for someone as regarded and careful as Tom was. Has anyone else found it chilling that there was a similar incident so closely related in time and location? Feels like too much of a coincidence to ignore. Thoughts?

I’ve been following the Lawson case and something that's been bugging me is the eerie similarity to the previous taxi driver shooting in the Muldoon area. I can’t help but wonder if there’s some kind of pattern or opportunistic criminal lurking in that neighborhood. It's chilling to think that despite law enforcement efforts, the same MO could strike twice in such a small area. Given Lawson's profile as a respected veteran and community contributor, it feels like he was the last person who deserved to become a crime statistic. My heart goes out to his family and friends who are still seeking answers and justice. It must be so hard for them to reconcile his tragic ending with the life of service and kindness he led. I hope this doesn’t deter good people from helping their community or strangers in need, but it’s understandable how faith can be shaken in situations like these. Here's hoping for some closure soon, not just for Thomas but for all the families affected by such senseless acts. Stay safe, everyone, especially our cabbies and night workers out there.

I've been thinking about the Muldoon neighborhood and how it was already a pretty sketchy area even back then. It's unsettling to realize that another taxi driver had faced the same fate just four years prior to Tom Lawson. I find it hard to believe that two similar crimes in such a specific area are purely coincidental. The fact that both Thomas and the other driver were shot in the head adds such a chilling layer to the story. Residents back then must have been frightened knowing that a killer—or perhaps more than one—was moving around their community. It's heartbreaking not just for the families of the victims, but also for everyone who had to live in fear. Do any Anchorage locals remember what the media was saying about Muldoon around that time? Did it affect how people viewed the safety of the neighborhood?
