I’ve been following the tragic case of Adalberto Ortiz-Nieves, and I can't stop thinking about how this incident has affected his family, especially his son, Malachi. Losing a parent is incredibly tough, and the circumstances surrounding this loss only amplify the pain. I'm really struck by Malachi's words about his dad, and it’s clear that Tani (or 'Red' as many knew him) brought so much joy to those around him. Selling chickens at Smiley's Flea Market and bringing smiles to faces—what a testament to the life he led. It's so difficult to imagine the heavy burden Malachi and the rest of the family must be carrying, especially as they try to navigate the logistics of honoring Tani with a proper farewell. I came across their GoFundMe campaign, and it’s heartbreaking to see financial worries piled on top of everything else. Knowing that Malachi might not make it to the funeral just adds another layer of sorrow. It’s important for communities to come together to support families like the Ortiz-Nieves during such difficult times. I hope they find the strength and resources they need to get through this. If anyone has more updates on the case or information on how we can help, please do share. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible situation.
