Was reading through the case of Melanie and Eugene Pavey, and one thing that stands out to me is their choice of boat. A 27-foot Cigarette speedboat, especially back in 1982, seems like a pretty daring choice for a trip to the Bahamas. These boats are known for speed, not necessarily long-distance cruising. I'm wondering if anyone knows more about the navigational equipment that was typically on those boats back then. Did they have reliable enough tech for such a journey? Given the big leap in navigation tools over the years, it makes me think this might have been a risky trip from the get-go. ? Anyone with more boating experience or knowledge have thoughts on this?
Anyone else curious about the lack of any debris found from Melanie and Eugene Pavey's boat? I find it odd that after the supposed extensive searches, not even a scrap has turned up. Given the speed and power of a 27-foot Cigarette boat like theirs, it makes me wonder if something catastrophic happened. Did a sudden storm sweep them off course, or is there more to their disappearance under the waves? It seems like such a busy area, even back in 1982, so wouldn’t someone have seen or heard something? I'm no expert, but the absence of any physical evidence just feels strange. Would love to hear if anyone has more info or thoughts on how such a large vessel could just vanish.
Was just reading about the Pavey case again and something keeps bugging me. Why would a newlywed couple choose to take a risky trip on a speedboat from Miami to the Bahamas, especially when they had barely been married six weeks? It seems like such a strange decision, even for adventurous types. I wonder if anyone else thinks this could be significant, like could they have been running from something or someone in Miami? Or maybe they were trying to avoid someone? Just seems odd to pick this particularly challenging route for a honeymoon journey, especially when it put them out of touch with family and friends. Curious if anyone has insights or similar cases where newlyweds vanished under puzzling circumstances.
