Has anyone else noticed the eerie detail about how Heather Moorer was at the scene but didn’t know it was Makye who had been shot for hours? That just breaks my heart. I can't even begin to imagine the pain and confusion she must have felt, standing so close and yet in the dark about what had happened to her own son. It’s heartbreaking to think how those minutes must have felt like hours, and the hours like an eternity. I keep thinking about how this could happen right in our communities, and how it seems like there’s just not enough urgency or communication during such a critical moment. It’s deeply troubling that the family was left in such an agonizing limbo. I hope the JSO ramps up their investigation efforts. If anyone has any information, no matter how small it may seem, please come forward. Makye and his family deserve answers and justice.

I’ve been following the tragic case of Makye Vogel and recently read about the hours his mother spent not knowing that he was the victim. My heart goes out to Heather Moorer and all the family members who had to endure that awful uncertainty. It’s unimaginable to think about being at the scene and not realizing that the person you’re searching for is so close, yet out of reach. This kind of communication delay seems like a flaw in how these situations should be handled. I wonder if there are ways authorities can improve notification processes to prevent families from going through even more trauma during such devastating times. If anyone has experience or knowledge about how law enforcement typically handles this, especially in Jacksonville, I’d be interested in hearing more. Keeping the family in my thoughts and hoping for justice soon.
