I’ve been following the tragic Miami-Dade Transit bus shooting closely, and I can’t stop thinking about the bus driver’s crucial role in protecting the passengers. It's terrifying to imagine the chaos and fear everyone must have felt in that moment. The driver directing people to safety before calling the police shows remarkable presence of mind and probably saved lives. We often take everyday heroes like bus drivers for granted, but this reminds us of the important role they play in our communities. My heart goes out to Martavis Cannon's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time—no one should have to endure such a sudden and senseless loss. Let’s hope there’s justice and also some healing for everyone affected by this unthinkable act of violence.
