I was reading about Nikki Redden's case, and I came across something that piqued my curiosity. Has anyone looked into why Dennis Benjamin Mixon might have targeted her specifically? Was there any mention of a prior connection or a motive? I know sometimes in these tragic situations it turns out to be someone known to the victim, but the articles seem pretty vague on this aspect. I can't begin to imagine what Nikki's family must be going through, having to reconcile that someone they knew might have been involved. It's hard enough dealing with the loss itself, let alone the added pain of betrayal. Thoughts or insights on how these connections impact the investigation or the trial?
