Hey everyone, I'm really intrigued by the mystery surrounding Michael Elkins' disappearance during that dive in 1998. Something that I find particularly puzzling is the involvement of John Claypool, the West Palm Beach police detective who was also on that expedition. It's uncommon for a police detective to join a recreational dive like this, right? I'm curious if there might have been any particular reason for his presence on that trip. Could there have been an undercover operation or perhaps he had a specific interest in the sunken barge? The fact that both of them disappeared at the same time is pretty eerie. Does anyone else think there's more to Claypool's involvement or am I just reading too much into it? Would love to hear your thoughts or any info you might have come across!
It's puzzling how both Michael Elkins and John Claypool vanished during the dive, especially when they were diving with a full team. I’ve been diving for years and know how crucial it is to communicate under water, especially at those depths. I can’t help but wonder about the buddy system during that dive. Did they follow protocol? There's got to be more on any signals or communication attempts from that day. Anyone know if there were any technical issues reported with their equipment or if visibility was particularly bad at the time? Diving can be so unpredictable, but losing two people in a group dive like that just seems so unusual.
It's been over two decades since Michael Elkins and Detective John Claypool vanished during that diving trip off Jupiter, FL. I’ve been diving in that area a few times, and the ocean conditions can be incredibly unpredictable, especially at those depths. What puzzles me is the fact that both men, including a trained detective, disappeared without a trace. It makes me wonder if there might have been some sort of equipment malfunction or other unforeseen factors involved. Has anyone here heard about similar diving incidents around that area? It feels like this case got cold too fast, and I can't help but hope there's more to uncover. Perhaps someone out there has seen something or knows something that they didn’t realize was important back then. Thoughts?
