I can't stop thinking about how this whole tragedy unfolded because it was the first time Naqualo ever sneaked out. It's so chilling to imagine that the one time he stepped out at night turned out to be so costly. I know teenagers sometimes push boundaries, but this incident just underlines the unpredictable dangers that are out there waiting. My heart goes out to his family, especially his aunt who spoke about him with such love and pride. The timing of everything, with the Christmas present arriving the same day they found out, must be such a painful reminder of their loss. It’s important for the community to support each other, focus on the memories of the kids, and push for change. Maybe someday the advocacy of groups like Moms of Black Sons Standing Against Death will make a difference, but in the meantime, I hope that anyone who knows anything will come forward and help the families find some peace.
