I can't stop thinking about how events like this bring an entire community to its knees. The loss of Lorenzo Harrison III has impacted so many people, and it's just incredibly sad. My heart goes out to all his classmates who must be feeling a range of emotions from shock to sadness. Prom night is supposed to be a time of celebration and joy, but this tragedy has forever changed that memory for everyone involved. It's hard to comprehend how something that seemed like a normal part of high school life could end in such an unimaginable way. I feel for the parents who have to navigate these turbulent waters, trying to both protect and comfort their children. And to the teachers and staff at Central High School who are probably struggling with supporting their students while processing their own feelings too. I really hope the counseling services being offered help everyone start to go through the healing process. Having those resources available is crucial, but it’s going to take time and the support of the entire West Helena community to come together and help each other get through this.
