I've been following the news about the tragic events at the Mad Butcher, and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what happened. My heart goes out to the family of Ellen Shrum. I learned she was a beloved member of her community, and her loss is profoundly felt by so many. She was known for her kindness and for being an active member of her church. I can't help but think about how no one should ever have to face such horrific circumstances while doing something as routine as grocery shopping. It's a reminder of how precious life is and how quickly things can change. This makes the actions of the first responders even more meaningful. The courage shown by the officers and all who helped at the scene is truly commendable. While we can't bring back Ellen or the others lost that day, I hope we can learn from this and work towards creating safer communities. Let’s keep discussing ways we can support the families affected and look out for one another. Staying connected is so important in times like these.
