Ten-month-old Aleksander Grzegorz Nowacki, a Canadian citizen born September 24, 2010, was last known to be in Kierce, Poland, on September 1, 2011. He traveled to Poland with his parents in April 2011; his father, Grzegorz Nowacki, returned to Canada on May 13, 2011, but Aleksander and his mother, Elzbieta Koziel Nowacki (born September 21, 1972), did not return as planned. Aleksander is a white male of Polish descent with light brown hair and blue eyes and speaks English and Polish.
The disappearance stems from a parental conflict. After arriving in Poland, Elzbieta filed in Polish courts to terminate the father’s parental rights; that request was denied, yet she still did not return to Canada with Aleksander. A Canada-wide warrant for kidnapping was issued for Elzbieta, who may use the alias Koziel. It was believed they might have remained in Poland, though travel to countries including Egypt, France, or the United Kingdom was also suggested. Aleksander’s Canadian passport has expired and Polish authorities reportedly blocked issuance of a new one; a Hague application for his return to Canada was denied on the grounds he could face grave harm.
Anyone who knew Aleksander, his parents, or saw them in Poland or elsewhere after September 1, 2011, is asked to come forward with information.
