I've been thinking about the tragic loss of Kareem Hagan and Marquis Marquez in that drive-by shooting back in 2017, and I can't help but reflect on the impact such a senseless act of violence has on their families and the community. It's devastating to know that a group gathered at what should have been a safe place turned into a scene of horror. I can't imagine the trauma experienced by the witnesses, let alone the families of Kareem and Marquis. We talk a lot about solving these crimes, which of course is crucial, but I feel we should also focus on supporting the neighborhood left in the aftermath. Has anything been set up to offer counseling or community support in Springfield since this happened? I hope there are efforts to help them heal, even as justice is pursued.

Has anyone looked into the traffic or surveillance cameras around East 18th and Main? It's such a busy intersection, and I'm thinking there might be some footage that could help. I feel for Kareem and Marquis's families—this is a tragedy that shouldn't have happened. The more eyes out there, the better. If anyone knows anything about potential camera locations, maybe it's something worth passing on to the investigators. It's frustrating when these cases stall and families are left waiting for answers.
