I still can't wrap my head around the tragedy that took place in Layton back in May. One aspect that's been sitting heavy with me is the death of the family dogs. I know it might sound minor compared to the loss of the human lives involved, but I feel like it's an important piece of this horrific puzzle. Animals are often seen as part of the family, and it makes me wonder what kind of state Bailey was in to commit such an all-encompassing act of violence. The loss of those dogs just adds another layer to the sorrow the surviving family and friends must be facing. I can't imagine the profound sense of betrayal and devastation for those who knew the Stevens family and their pets. Such a senseless act from someone they likely trusted makes the healing process so much more complicated. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
