I can't get this case out of my mind. It's devastating to think about what might have been going on in Maribel's mind and heart leading up to this tragic event. As someone who has struggled with mental health issues, I can't help but wonder if there were any signs that could have been caught, or if the support system around her knew how to help. Mental health can be such a silent battle, and it’s heart-wrenching to think about those beautiful children and the potential futures they had ahead of them.
One thing that stood out to me was the absolute shock expressed by her family. It's a reminder that we often don't know what someone is truly going through behind closed doors. Angel's message at the vigil about reaching out and using resources like the mental health crisis line is so important—we need to keep those conversations going, for ourselves and for others around us.
I pray for healing for the family and the community. It's vital that we support each other and foster environments where people feel safe to share and seek help. If this tragedy can serve as a catalyst for open dialogues and increased awareness around mental health, maybe it could prevent another family from enduring the same pain.
