I’ve been digging into the details surrounding Herbert Stanley Keam’s disappearance and came across something curious that’s been on my mind. The last anyone saw of Herbert was when he left his friend's place in the Poplar River community. I can’t help but wonder about those few hours before he set off. Did anyone at the friend's place notice something in Herbert's demeanor that day? Any change in his mood or any conversations that might offer insight into why he chose such a challenging route to Norway House at that particular time? Also, I found myself wondering why Herbert decided on foot travel through such a dense wilderness instead of arranging some sort of safer transportation, knowing how tough it would be. Some folks have speculated whether he might've been in a hurry, already intending to set off before others knew his plan, or maybe he was planning to meet someone along the way? I suppose unless anyone in Poplar River can recall those last interactions, we might never know the reasons behind his decisions. This case has so many layers, and it makes you wonder how something so small could have perhaps altered the outcome.
