Did anyone else look into the possibility that Serge might have tried to reach out to communities or organizations that support people with hearing impairments? I know in 1980 the communication channels weren’t as advanced as today, but there were definitely services available for individuals like him. It's possible that he sought help or refuge with such groups after leaving Montreal. If he really intended to head to NYC, maybe someone from a local service or community center might remember encountering him. Even after all these years, hitting up those historical societies or even old community boards in Montreal and NYC with inquiries could reveal a forgotten piece of the puzzle. Just a thought—missing persons cases from decades ago can sometimes find new life with modern eyes!
