Does anyone else find it odd that Nowell Halfe's disappearance wasn't reported until years later? I'm genuinely trying to understand how something like this happens. I read that his family lost contact with him in 2013, but isn't it unusual for an investigation to start as late as 2019? This delay must have made things extra challenging for the investigators, especially considering the possibility of lost evidence or faded memories.
I've also been thinking about his ties to different places. Initially, the investigation was with the Camrose Police Service but got handed over to the Edmonton Police. Could there have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication about where he was last seen that caused this delay? It makes me wonder if something got overlooked in those early years. If anyone has more context or ideas about procedural reasons for such delays, I'd appreciate hearing them. It's just hard to imagine waiting that long for answers, both for Nowell's family and for any potential leads they might have had back then.
