I recently came across the case of Mark K. Cornett, who went missing while fishing on Missinaibi Lake in 1987. One aspect that stands out to me is the location itself—Missinaibi Lake. Those who have visited describe it as an unforgiving stretch of wilderness. It's fascinating, and somewhat daunting, to think about how remote and vast this lake is. I wonder how much that sheer size and isolation made the search efforts back then so challenging.
Thinking about him fishing near Fairy Point with its historic Indigenous pictographs makes the story even more poignant. There’s something haunting about such a culturally rich location being tied to a disappearance. Does anyone else have thoughts on the role the lake's geography might have played in Mark's case, or any ideas on how this area has been searched over the years?
