I’ve been researching Glenn’s case, and I am really curious about the role rumors might have played over the years. In close-knit communities like Cross Lake, word-of-mouth can spread quickly and have a huge impact on how a case is viewed both by the public and, sometimes, even by investigators.
Could it be that rumors or misinformation have actually hindered progress in Glenn's case? I wonder if there's more clarity now with the tips from 2015 or if these kinds of leads just build upon the existing community chatter. For anyone with experience or knowledge about how communities like this deal with such tragedies, how do you think authorities can distinguish reliable info from false rumors? Has anyone seen similar situations in other cases where local hearsay either helped or hindered the investigation?
