I've been digging into the disappearance of Guy Carignan and Lucie Gélinas, and one thing that stands out to me is the whole hitchhiking aspect. Back in 1973, it seems like hitchhiking was pretty common, but it also posed such significant risks. I can't imagine what their families must've thought at the time. It's unsettling how many safe paths and helpful rides could've been available, yet only one wrong encounter might have changed everything for them. Has anyone ever come across other cases from that era in Quebec where hitchhiking played a role? Similar patterns or any reports of suspicious activity along those routes back then? I think understanding the context of how hitchhiking was perceived and any documented issues surrounding it might shed some light on what actually happened to them. Also, curious if there were other reports from April 1973 that could hint at their whereabouts when things went cold. Every little piece counts when trying to solve mysteries like these.
