I've been following the mysterious disappearance of Ronald Jeffrey Bax and the tragic murder of Krystal Senyk for a while now, and one aspect that really intrigues me is the role the wilderness might have played in Bax's disappearance. Given that Bax was a seasoned outdoorsman, it's quite plausible he could have used the rugged terrain to his advantage. The Yukon wilderness is notoriously difficult to navigate, even for experienced hikers.
If Bax did opt to disappear into the wild, he could have survived off the land for a considerable time, especially during the milder months. There's been talk over the years about how adaptable and resourceful he was when it came to living outdoors. But that leads me to wonder: did he really try to brave it out there indefinitely, or was it just a means to buy time and mask his tracks before possibly moving on?
There's also been some chatter about how he might have used old hunting routes he was familiar with. Could he have had hidden supplies or locations only he knew about? We often focus on where he might have gone, but understanding how he survived—even briefly—could offer clues we haven’t considered yet. If anyone has insights or theories about how he might have lived off the grid or taken advantage of his skills, I'd be keen to hear your thoughts!
