Has anyone else been following the Carlos Simmons case in Tucson? It struck me how the incident happened on Thanksgiving Day, a time when most of us are gathered with family, sharing gratitude. It's so disheartening to think his family will always associate that day with such a painful loss. I can't even begin to imagine what they must have felt learning about the shooting when they were likely expecting a time of togetherness and celebration. The community's response was commendable, but I hope Carlos's family is finding support and healing after such an unimaginable tragedy. Does anyone know if there are local groups or efforts in Tucson working to address gun violence and provide resources to families like the Simmons?
Has anyone heard anything about Carlos Simmons's workplace or his colleagues? I read somewhere that he was well-liked at his job, but there's not much info out there. With everything that happened on Thanksgiving Day, I can’t help but think about how his friends at work must be feeling. Losing a colleague so suddenly and violently has got to be a tough pill to swallow, especially around the holidays. I hope they’re finding some comfort and support within the community. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Carlos Simmons was taken from his family on Thanksgiving Day. It's such a painful reminder of how fragile life can be, and my heart goes out to his parents and loved ones who now have to face every holiday with this absence. It seems so senseless, this violence. What has really got me thinking is the question of why these moments of extreme violence happen between people who might have once known or trusted each other. Did Lamont Adams and Carlos have any prior connection or ongoing conflict? While I know Adams was found guilty, the motive behind some of these actions remains cloudy. It feels like understanding the why could help communities address the root causes of such violence. Hoping for peace and healing for Carlos’s family.
