I've been reading up on the Donald Jerome Shipp Jr. case from 1979, and something really stands out to me about Chico, the guy linked to the Chevy Chevelle. It's baffling how he completely clammed up and refused to cooperate with the police, especially since he was affiliated with the Young-uns gang. I can't help but wonder if there were deeper layers of gang rivalry or code of silence involved that might have scared him into staying quiet. The gang dynamics in neighborhoods can be so intense and intimidating. I feel so sorry for Donald's family, knowing that the key to solving his murder might have been right there, but fear kept people from speaking out. I hope the passage of time might change things, and someone comes forward with information. It's hard living with such a loss for over three decades.
