I’ve been following the tragic case of Adam Leon Lopez, and I'm deeply moved by how the community has come together to support his family through this unimaginable time. I read somewhere about the incredible efforts of Christina Jones who started the GoFundMe page to help cover Adam’s funeral expenses. It’s wonderful to see people rallying to give him the memorial he deserves, but it really makes me think about how communities have to shoulder these burdens. Is anyone else struck by how often these fundraisers have to be set up for victims of gun violence? It feels like it’s becoming a grim pattern, and I just wish there was more we could do upstream to prevent these tragedies from occurring in the first place. My heart truly goes out to Adam’s family and friends—nobody should have to go through this pain. If anyone has ideas on long-term support for families affected by gun violence, let’s share them. Adam’s memory deserves action beyond the funeral.
