There are multiple homicide victims named Joseph Young reported in Washington, D.C., and the available details point to at least two distinct shootings that match that name.

One Joseph Young was a 16-year-old male fatally shot in an alley off 18th Street NE on a Friday afternoon in January 1992. He was found with gunshot wounds to his upper body and died at D.C. General Hospital. Police stopped a white Audi shortly after the shooting; two adults from the car were taken in for questioning and officers reported finding evidence in the vehicle linking it to the slaying.

A separate Joseph Young was shot and killed on July 2, 1996, at about 9:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Anacostia Road SE. The Metropolitan Police Department lists that case as an unsolved homicide and is seeking public assistance.
