I’ve been going over the details of the tragic shooting in Deer Valley, and my thoughts keep drifting back to the car that pulled into the Days Inn. I can’t imagine the shock and terror those inside must have felt. Misael Arevalo, in particular, has been on my mind—a man just going about his day, suddenly caught in such a horrific situation. It’s deeply upsetting to think of someone losing their life in such a senseless act of violence.

The fact that three passengers managed to escape without injury seems almost incredible amid such chaos. I hope they are receiving the support they need after such a traumatic experience. I can only hope that Karla Garzona's loved ones, and those of the others affected, are finding ways to cope and heal.

It makes me wonder about the mental state of the shooter and whether there were missed opportunities for intervention. This underscores such an urgent need for mental health awareness and support resources. My heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by this awful event, and I hope the community finds a way to support the victims' families during such a difficult time.

Their quick response undoubtedly saved more lives that night, even after sustaining injuries themselves. I hope they're receiving all the support they need to recover fully—both physically and emotionally. It's a reminder of the risks our officers face and how critical their role is in such horrifying situations. Sending thoughts to Misael Arevalo's family and all those impacted that night.
