I've been following the Lula Griffith Briggs case and something about the sightings of that blue and white 1959 Chevrolet station wagon has always been puzzling to me. If two witnesses saw a woman resembling Lula "slumped" in the backseat, it seems like there was some urgency or distress involved. But why would the driver stop to ask for directions to the Ohio River? If he was trying to keep a low profile, drawing attention by asking locals for directions just doesn't add up.
Could it have been a diversion tactic, perhaps? Maybe he needed to throw people off the scent or create a false trail. I find it curious that nobody else reported similar sightings after those initial witness statements. Did the car take back roads to avoid notice, or is it possible they changed vehicles? Also, it's strange that after decades, we still don't have more information on this man. The composite sketch might not have been circulated widely enough, or maybe people just didn't recognize him.
Has anyone else found references to this car or driver in other cases from that time? Could it have been linked to other disappearances or suspicious activities in the area? There’s so much we still don’t know, and it’s baffling how quickly a familiar face in a small community can seemingly vanish without a trace. Thoughts?
