I’ve been following Kevin Howard Smith’s case for a while, and something that keeps popping into my mind is the location where this tragic event took place. 3109 Naylor Road, SE is not exactly a quiet area at that time of night. If anyone happened to be nearby or passing through around 2:00 am on April 17, 2004, they might have seen or heard something important, even if they didn’t realize it at the time.
It’s painful to think that a tip from someone who could recall even the smallest detail might make all the difference to his family desperately seeking answers. Perhaps someone remembers an unusual noise, a vehicle speeding off, or anything out of the ordinary for that area. Even after all these years, it’s never too late to come forward. Please, if you know anything—no matter how insignificant it might seem—consider reaching out to MPD or using the anonymous tip line. Kevin’s family deserves answers and peace, and any piece of information might be the key to unlocking this mystery.
Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Kevin Howard Smith's unsolved murder? I can't stop thinking about how many years it’s been and how his family must feel without any answers or closure. It breaks my heart to think about the pain his loved ones have endured for almost two decades now.
What I find really puzzling is that this happened in such a populated area—3109 Naylor Road, right in Washington, D.C. You'd think with people around at 2:00 am, someone might have seen or heard something that could help. I read about the $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Hopefully, this incentivizes someone to finally come forward, maybe even anonymously.
Reading about Detective Kasul and the Violent Crimes Branch trying to tackle not just this case but other unsolved homicides in the area makes me optimistic, though. But they definitely need our help. Every little detail could make a difference. If anyone knows something, anything, now is the time to speak up. Imagine being able to help bring peace to Kevin’s family after all these years.
Let’s keep talking about Kevin, folks. The more this stays in the public eye, the better chance we might have to see some justice. Kevin and his family deserve that.
Does anyone else find it particularly frustrating that Kevin Howard Smith's case has remained unsolved for so long? I keep thinking about the night it happened—2:00 am on April 17, 2004—and the fact that his killer is still out there. I can't begin to imagine the pain his family must be feeling, knowing there are no answers after all these years. What I find especially troubling is this happened in a city where there are (or should be) ample resources to address violent crimes more effectively.
I've been really impressed by the commitment from Detective Kasul and the Violent Crimes Branch, but they've hit a wall. I wonder if there are other ways the community can step up? I know $25,000 is being offered for information, which is a huge incentive, yet it hasn't surfaced any significant leads so far.
Do any locals here remember if there was anything suspicious happening in that area during that time? The smallest piece of information might be the missing link needed to bring justice for Kevin and his family. My heart goes out to them during such a difficult time.
