I've been thinking a lot about the legal aspect concerning Samantha and Kimberly Carson's involvement in this devastating event. It's understandable why St. Hilaire's mother pursued a lawsuit, trying to find justice for her son, but the court's decision to dismiss it raises some interesting discussions. In many cases, proving negligence requires showing a clear duty of care that was violated, but here, it seems the Carsons couldn’t have known Fenderson would act violently. How do you even foresee something as horrific as a murder-suicide?
I'm really torn because, on one hand, no one wants to blame the Carsons for something they couldn’t predict, yet you can also empathize with Kelly DeCambra's desperate search for answers. It's a harsh reminder of how the justice system handles these cases and the limits of what can legally be done. What are your thoughts on the court's decision and the concept of "foreseeable danger"? Did the court make the right call in your opinion?
