I can't stop thinking about the unimaginable pain Kyle Hewitt's family must have gone through, especially given how sudden and senseless his death was. It’s beyond me how someone could cause so much harm to others in such a short period. I read that Kyle was just sleeping on the couch when he was killed, and it breaks my heart to think about how vulnerable he was at that moment. Being in your own home should feel safe, not be the scene of a nightmare. I've seen some discussions about Lord's background and his PTSD diagnosis, but I can't help but feel that it doesn't justify the terror he unleashed on so many innocent people. I hope Kyle’s family feels the support of the community around them as they continue to process this trauma, even years later. It really makes you think about how important it is to advocate for better mental health support and more preventative measures to keep our communities safe.
