Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share a thought about Billy Brackett, one of the victims from the tragic Lewiston shooting. I've been thinking a lot about his involvement in sports, particularly how he was such a passionate member of the Deaf community. It’s truly inspiring how he didn't let his deafness stop him from excelling in various sports, earning a nickname like the "Silent Giant."
I recently read that Billy was very active in the local cornhole and darts scene and was actually at a cornhole tournament the night of the shooting. These events must have been such a great way for members of the Deaf community to connect and bond over a shared love for sports. It’s heartwarming to think of the joy these gatherings brought to Billy and others, even amidst such a tragic loss.
My thoughts are with Kristina, Sandra, and everyone affected. It’s important for us to continue supporting them however we can. Every little bit helps, and remembering the joy and kindness Billy spread during his life is a beautiful way to honor him.
Stay strong, everyone. ?
I recently stumbled upon some posts about the tragic events in Lewiston, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts about Billy "Silent Giant" Brackett. While the sadness surrounding this shooting impacts all of us, learning about Billy's life has truly left an impression on me.
One thing that stands out is Billy's passion for sports, especially basketball. Scoring over 1,000 points is an incredible achievement, and it speaks volumes about his determination and skill. It's no surprise how beloved he was in his community—both the Deaf and wider sports communities.
I can only imagine how much joy and inspiration he brought to those around him. From participating in neighborhood games to competing in community tournaments, Billy seemed to be a beacon of positivity and warmth. My heart goes out to his wife Kristina, daughter Sandra, and everyone who had the privilege to know him. His impact and legacy will undoubtedly live on, both on and off the court.
