On July 2, 1982, Thompson Falls, Montana, was the scene of a familicide that left five members of the same household dead, including 16-year-old Robert George Sexton. The victims were Robert; his sister, 18-year-old Deborah Kay Sexton; his brother, 8-year-old Michael Duval Sexton; their mother, 39-year-old Linda Kay Cunningham Sexton; and their maternal grandmother, 65-year-old Frances Dorthy Cook Cunningham.
Investigators concluded the deaths were caused by gunshot wounds inflicted by 47-year-old Loxley Sexton, the family patriarch. After shooting his estranged wife, their three children and his mother-in-law, Loxley Sexton died by suicide. The crime left the town reeling and the family destroyed.
Anyone who knew the Sexton family or was in Thompson Falls around July 2, 1982, with recollections that might shed light on the family dynamics leading up to that day is asked to come forward.
