On March 25, 2016, 48-year-old Michelle Rae Farrell was found dead on the living room floor of the couple’s home in Ramsey, a suburb of Butte, Montana. Investigators determined she had been shot three times in the chest; the incident was ruled a murder-suicide. Her 70-year-old husband, Larry Farrell, was found deceased in the home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the temple and the firearm was located near his body.
Two Great Dane dogs were also found shot inside the house, while five other pets were unharmed and later taken to an animal shelter. No suicide note was reported, and authorities did not identify any other suspects or make arrests in Michelle’s death.
The motive for the killing remains unclear. If anyone knew Michelle or the Farrells and can share information that might shed light on what led to this tragedy, please come forward.
