On the evening of December 10, 2023, Ferndale, Montana suffered a deadly shooting at a Cayuse Lane residence that left three people wounded and one dead. Deputies from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded after calls about a man with a gun and found three gunshot victims; first aid was administered and all three were taken to a local hospital. Tammi Jordan, 56, died of a gunshot wound to the head; an autopsy ruled the death a homicide. The other two victims, identified as Jeffrey and Heather Kislewski, were reported in stable condition.

A 49-year-old man, Matthew Thomas Vitek of Bigfork, was taken into custody at the scene. Court documents say surveillance video shows a verbal altercation before gunfire; Jordan is reported to be heard pleading for someone to call the police, and the footage allegedly shows Vitek shooting Jeffrey and Heather Kislewski and then shooting Jordan. Vitek was booked into the Lake County Jail and charged with deliberate homicide and two counts of attempted deliberate homicide. Anyone with information about Tammi Jordan or that night’s events is asked to come forward.
