Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about the boat they were on, the 'WEPA'. Given that it was built in 1990, it got me wondering about how often the boat might have been maintained and if that could have contributed to the mechanical issues reported. Boats of that age can have their quirks, especially if not regularly serviced. Has anyone looked into maintenance records or known issues with this model that could shed some light on what might've happened? I've read that older boats, like cars, sometimes have parts that suddenly fail without much warning. Could this be a factor here, and why they weren't able to call for help if their communication equipment failed too? Just thinking out loud, hoping for a breakthrough somewhere. Stay safe out there.

Has anyone else been following the case of Javier A. Mendez and the three others who went missing back in August 2019? I've been thinking a lot about the mechanical issues reported on their boat, 'WEPA.' Given that it was a 1990 model, does anyone else wonder if those issues might have played a more significant role in their disappearance than initially thought? Older boats can have their quirks, and I can't help but think about the possible scenarios they might have faced out there. It's so frustrating not having more answers, especially after such an extensive search by the Coast Guard. Would love to hear if anyone has more insight into what might have happened or any similar experiences with older boats and sudden mechanical failures.
