Has anyone else looked into the possibility that James might have actually made it to either Texas or California after all? I can't help but wonder if there's a chance he started over somewhere and simply didn't reach out to his family. It's strange to me that he mentioned joining a convent, but there’s been little discussion about whether any religious communities in those states might have heard from him or had him enter their ranks. I’m curious if any cold case investigators have tried connecting the dots with monasteries or convents around that time, or if there’s any paperwork that points toward a change in identity. Has anyone else considered this angle?
