I've been thinking a lot about the Eckert case and the role our community played in their lives. It's truly remarkable how much they contributed to Alton, and I can’t seem to wrap my head around this devastating loss. Both James and Lizette seemed like pillars in our town, not just through their chiropractic work but through their active participation in local events and church activities. It's like a piece of our community is missing now. I can't imagine how their children must feel, to lose both parents in such a sudden and tragic way. It breaks my heart. I hope the support from the GoFundMe and the church can provide some comfort and stability for them, although I know nothing can truly replace what they've lost. If there's any way to prevent similar tragedies in the future, whether through increased mental health support or community vigilance, we need to make it a priority. The Eckerts deserved better, and I hope their legacy pushes us towards meaningful change.
