I’ve always been curious about how often missing persons cases like Mary Jo Burnett’s don’t get officially reported until years later. It’s so frustrating, especially since you start losing valuable time to gather evidence and witness statements. I read somewhere that her family finally reported her missing in 1989, five years after she was last seen in Rockford. I wonder how much that delay affected the investigation. It seems like it would only make it harder to trace her steps or find any leads about her later sightings in Georgia, Texas, or Florida. Does anyone know if this is common in other cases, too? It seems like a crucial window that got missed.

Has anyone else looked into the fact that Mary Jo Burnett had a slightly protruding tooth on the top right side of her mouth? I just can't shake the feeling that it's such a distinctive feature that someone, somewhere must remember seeing her. It's the kind of thing that you might not notice at first, but once you recognize it, it's memorable. With age progression photos out there, maybe someone will connect the dots. Although it's been years, anything at this point could help. It’s just wild to me that with such identifiable characteristics and the age progression technology we have today, we still haven’t gotten closer to finding her or even understanding what truly happened. What are your thoughts?
