Hey everyone,
I've been scouring all the info I can find on the Malten case, and something that's really been sticking with me is the sheer bravery of Wardens Lakanen and Simpson. These agents went out that day simply trying to do their jobs, protecting wildlife and enforcing the law—and walked right into such a dangerous situation. It truly showed the risks they faced every day, but what gets me is how Simpson didn't give up even under fire. I've been thinking about his attempt to find cover and how terrifying those moments must have been for him. It's just deeply tragic that these men lost their lives in such a brutal way, and I can't help but wonder what kind of psychological state Malten must have been in to harbor such intense hostility. Can’t imagine how their families felt receiving such devastating news. Grateful that there are memorials keeping their memory alive—just wish we had more answers and perhaps some real closure. ?
